| Young defender who made his first team
debut against Middlesbrough in the 96/97 season. This tough-tackler has made the most of the chances that have come his way and looks like a United star of the future. In the FA Cup tie against Wimbledon during the same season, Clegg up-ended a certain Vinnie Jones - so there's no doubting his commitment or courage. Clegg's mature performances were a pleasant suprise for Alex Ferguson, and he was voted the club's Young Player of the Year. He also was voted the Pontins League Player of the Year, and people were comparing his talents to those of Stuart Pearce - not bad for a lad of 20. |
